2011 Top 50 Lutteurs Indépendants du Québec / Top 50 Quebec Indy Wrestlers
1-El Generico El Generico a connu une année de rêve, probablement la meilleure de sa carrière, ce qui n’est pas peu dire. L’année a débuté avec 2 dark matchs pour la TNA. Par la suite, il a remporté le titre TV de la ROH, où il a lutté toute l’année, il a remporté le titre de la PWG, mais plus encore, il a remporté un titre en Suède, au Japon, à Porto Rico ainsi qu’au Québec, pour la NSPW. Il a vraiment lutté aux quatre coins du globe. Il a eu d’excellents combats, entre autres à la PWG et un bien spécial, face à Sean Waltman (1-2-3 Kid) pour CHIKARA. Il a d’ailleurs remporté le prestigieux BOLA à Los Angeles. Au Québec, il a eu l’un des meilleurs matchs de l’année face à Mike Bailey pour C*4. Il égalise Kevin Steen autant parce qu’il remporté le prix de lutteur pour une 4e fois que par ses 3 conquêtes consécutives du prix. Depuis 2004, aucun autre lutteur que Generico et Steen n’ont remporté ce prix. Pour une 3e année de suite, Kevin Steen doit se contenter de la 2e place derrière son ennemi juré. Steen a lutté beaucoup plus au Québec cette année, alors qu’on l’a vu œuvré pour la NCW, NSPW, CRW, ToW, GEW et C*4. Il a d’ailleurs remporté le titre de la NSPW et celui par équipe de la C*4 et de la CRW. Il a encore une fois fait sa part en ce qui concerne les matchs de l’année, alors qu’il a participé à plusieurs des meilleurs matchs sur la scène québécoise en 2011. Chez nos voisins du sud, il a pris part à une histoire forte intéressante avec la ROH, alors que son retour au mois de décembre a volé le show. Il a surtout performé pour la PWG, mais aussi pour d’autres promotions comme 2CW et Resistance Pro. Alex Silva a vraiment connu une année bien spéciale alors qu’il a répété son exploit de l’an dernier, soit celui de remporter le titre TV de la OVW, mais en plus, il a lutté pour les enregistrements télés de la ROH, a obtenu un dark match pour la TNA et comme si ce n’était pas assez, il a lutté face à Brodus Clay pour les enregistrements de WWE Superstars. Au Québec, il a surtout lutté pour la CRW, avec une présence en fin d’année à la NSPW. Il s’agit de son plus haut classement en carrière. Il s’agit d’un 5e top 10 consécutif pour Franky the Mobster, qui pourtant, a moins lutté que par les années passées. Mathieu St-Jacques continue sur sa lancée de 2010 et est devenu une figure prédominante au Québec, tandis que Dru Onyx revient dans le top 10 après une absence de 5 ans, lui qui a impressionné au tournoi poids-lourd de la NSPW. Il s’agit du plus haut classement de Darkko et d’un 3e top 10 consécutif. Pour LuFisto, il s’agit d’un 4e top 10 consécutif. Stupefied a lui aussi connu une excellente année, remportant entre autres le championnat de la C*4 tandis qu’Handsome JF a connu sa meilleure année en carrière, remportant le titre de la NCW et finissant dans le top 10 pour la première fois. Notons aussi la fulgurante montée de Thomas Dubois et Kalamity, qui passent respectivement de la 43e et 42e position à la 12e et 16e; Surfer Mitch qui fait ses débuts dans le top 50 avec une excellente 21e position; le retour de Damian Steele après 4 ans et celui d’Alextrême après 5; et finalement, les débuts dans le top 50 de Johnny C (qui serait bien plus haut si plus de gens le voyaient lutter), Johnny Jack Spade, Brandon Model, Shogan, Billy Gibson et HC Ryder.
El Generico had a dream year in 2011, probably the best of his career, if such thing could be done. The year started for him with 2 dark matches for TNA. Then, he won the ROH World TV title, where he wrestled all year long. He also won the PWG title, but also titles in Sweden, Japan, Porto Rico and Quebec, namely the NSP title. He really wrestled everywhere. He had very good matches, especially for PWG and one very special match for CHIKARA against Sean Waltman (1-2-3 Kid). Still in LA, he won the prestigious BOLA tournament. In Quebec, he had one of the best match of the year against Mike Bailey for C*4. He equals Kevin Steen by winning the Wrestler of Yeat award for the 4th time and by winning it for a 3rd straight year. Since 2004, no other wrestler won it besides Generico and Steen. For a 3rd straight year, Kevin Steen finished second to his arch rival. Steen wrestled a lot more in Quebec this year, wrestling for NCW, NSPW, CRW, ToW, GEW and C*4. He won the NSPW title and the C*4 and CRW tag titles. He’s also been part of many of the best matches of the year in Quebec, somewhat of a normal thing for him now. In the States, he was part of an interesting storyline with ROH and his return in December stole the show. He’s mostly wrestled for PWG, but also other promotions like 2CW and Resistance Pro. Alex Silva had a very special year as he repeated his feat from last year by winning the OVW TV title. But his year was already a special one before that as he wrestled for the ROH TV Tapings, had a dark match for TNA and wrestled Brodus Clay for the WWE Superstars tapings. In Quebec, he mostly wrestled for CRW with a match at NSPW at the end of the year. This is his highest ranking ever. This is a 5th top 10 in a row for Franky the Mobster, who wrestled less than in previous years. Mathieu St-Jacques continued where he left in 2010 and became one of the hottest commodities in Quebec wrestling. Dru Onyx, who impressed in the NSPW Heavyweight tournament, makes a comeback in the top 10 after a 5 years hiatus. This is the highest ranking ever for Darkko and a 3rd straight top 10. It’s also a 4th straight top 10 for LuFisto. Stupefied had a very good year winning the C*4 title while Handsome JF had a career year by winning the NCW title and finishing in the top 10 for the first time. One can note the huge jump in the rankings for Thomas Dubois and Kalamity, going respectively from 43rd and 42nd to 12th and 16th; Surfer Mitch makes his top 50 debut with a very good 21st position; it’s the return of Damian Steele after 4 years and Alextreme’s after 5; finally, it’s the top 50 debuts of Johnny C (who would’ve been higher if more people would’ve seen him wrestled), Johnny Jack Spade, Brandon Model, Shogan, Billy Gibsob and HC Ryder.
